Kindergarten Happenings!

It was a short week but we still got a lot accomplished! We earned a marble party and was able to celebrate with Cohort B.  Cohort A will celebrate next week.  We also continued learning about occupations and the different shoes & hats people wear when performing their jobs.  We worked on our sight words, letters/sounds, and numbers 0-7.  We also wrote in our journals for the first time and talked about TTQA (turn the question around) when answering questions.  In other words, practicing answering questions using whole sentences which will help us as we begin to be writers. Here are some pictures from the week.

I sat with each child and we worked on writing our names using lower case letters and lines.  We will continue to practice this throughout the year.

We learned the letter/keyword/sound for the letters i & u. The children then did some push pin art to strengthen their finger muscles. This time we put it on card stock which makes it a little more challenging.

Nikolai is working on his "I see" sight word book.  We practiced reading the book and then the students colored the pictures.

Alphabet Arc! Working to match the letters of the alphabet!
Math write the room. Students walk around, find cards, count the items and record the number on their paper.

STEM Challenge - Make an apple tree and balance the sticks and apples.  Students were challenged to eliminate sticks(branches) and see if they could still balance the apples(pom poms) on the tree.  They loved this activity!  Cohort A will do this next week.  We ran out of time with the one day that we had.

Choice time!  A favorite time for all!

Thank you to the Lions Club for the awesome pumpkins.  We stopped to snap a picture with our pumpkins and pajamas! Then we got back into our spaced out line.  The kids were excited to get the pumpkins.  Cohort A will get their pumpkins next week!

At home working hard!  Thank you Danny for doing such a great job working at home!  I love that you are practicing your letters/sound and sight words!  Keep up the great work!!
Way to go kindergarten!  I am so proud of all the hard work you are doing at school and at home!  Keep up the terrific work!  Enjoy the weekend!
