Mystery Reader

Our first Mystery Reader came today and the children were very excited!  I read the clues to the children and Olivia knew right away it was her mom!  She was beyond excited!  I have three more people who have signed up to come in and read but would love more.  Let me know if you are interested.  If you do not have the form I had sent out earlier, I can send a new one so you can write down some clues about yourself.

I would love for each child to have someone come in.

A little addition game with the Grinch after we listened to the story How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  We also discussed story elements and the message from the book.  I loved when one student told us the message was, "Christmas is not about presents it is about being with your family!"  So very true!!

A busy week....
We learned about Hanukkah. The children colored, cut and sequenced numbers written on the candles of the Menorah.
We filled stockings with short vowel sounds.
 We sorted syllables.

We practiced our handwriting.  We have learned all upper case letters now!  We will move onto lower case letters in January!
We worked to strengthen our fine motor skills.

 We played games!
We wrote about what we would do if Santa was stuck in a chimney. We read a story about Santa getting stuck in a chimney and sang a new song.
We practiced our addition.  We were given parts and had to find the sum or total.  At another center we were given the sum and had to figure out different ways to make the number.

We worked on other math concepts as well.

We played at legos & the doll house.
We made a special tree for our families!  The children worked hard on this and some even added additional details.

 more addition practice

An addition game using dice and pattern blocks to make a picture.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!  Stay warm!!
