Elina did a fabulous job sharing her poster and family page with the class.  She brought in a little lizard to share as well.  Nice job Elina!

Daily Five Activities 
Word Work ~ writing cvc & ccvc words  
 Work on Writing ~ Completing the last page of a Martin Luther King Jr. book by writing something to help the world, drawing a picture & coloring the pages if there was extra time.  
 Listen to Reading ~ Enjoying some stories on tape/CD.
 iPads ~ practicing some handwriting and math skills

 Legos with friends ~ a trash truck and a plow

Work board activities focus on vowel sounds.  
The boys are sorting cvc words. They are blending sounds and deciding if it is a real word or silly word. They did a great job! 
Indoor recess obstacle course
Mrs. Woodward put together an obstacle course in the hall. The children had a chance to participate if they wanted too. 
Hoops to jump through. Jumping jacks, wall push ups and crawling through mini tunnels.  They had a blast!!

Mason and Aiden made a chicken coop with chickens inside and snowplow a outside!

Indoor Recess

The past two days have been very chilly but the children have enjoyed some extra indoor recess activities.  They have had two great mornings!

A math game using dotted dice.  We are working on being able to identify quantities by sight.  We practiced adding onto the bigger amount. Six and 1 more or 6 +1 = 7.  A great introduction to addition.  The children loved playing the game with one another!

A Great Week

Mason & Dylan did a terrific job building with geo blocks.  They even added additional detail after the picture!  Way to go boys!
 A big birthday shout out to Viviana!  Hope you had a fabulous 6th birthday!  


Journal writing ~ The kids are doing a great job writing in their journals.  We are very proud of them.  
BRRR....it was chilly on Thursday so we brought the kindergarteners down to the gym to run around, play some basketball, soccer and enjoy their friends from Mrs. Bennett's class.

Our first Star Student of the new year!  Great job sharing today Dylan!  

We began our new math program enVision 2.0 last week.  We began by studying unit 5 Classifying Data.  The children have been working on sorting objects looking at different attributes.  We have learned some big words these past two weeks!  The children are doing a great job! 


Last week we talked about the signs of Winter and discussed some of the things we like to do on a snowy day.  The children wrote and illustrated their answers.  They did a fabulous job!!
