Kindergarten Happenings!

We had a very busy and eventful week.  There a lot of pictures to share!
Enjoy the pictures of our star student, pumpkin painting with our 3rd grade buddies,
pumpkin parade, activities from our week and more!
Nate was our Star Student this week!  He did an amazing job sharing his family page, all about me pages and his show and tell items.  He brought in a special pair of spy glasses and a wallet.  He told us all about the pictures and adventures that went along with each one!  Way to go Nate!!
Meet Echo and Baby Echo!
We were surprised by Maddie and her mom, from Mrs. Bennett's class,
with a special nest for Echo and Baby Echo to rest in!
I am so excited about the nest and thank them both for taking time to surprise us with it!!

Making shapes and numbers with connecting sticks!  Way to go William!
Meeting out 3rd grade buddies in the cafeteria before we begin our pumpkins.
Each kindergartner had a sign saying "Hi" with their buddies name and who they were.
This was super cute to see!
Back in the classrooms the children sat with their buddy to decorate their pumpkins.
The finished products came out great!

Once pumpkins were completed the buddies sat down and read stories to each other.  They did an amazing job working together, helping each other out and displaying appropriate behaviors!
We were so PROUD of them!

Our first Mystery Reader!!  The children were thrilled to have Mrs. Adams as our mystery reader!  They tried to guess who it was.  They had a lot of great guesses based on the clues but it was tricky for them.  Thank you Jamie for coming taking the time to come in and read a story to us!  The kids loved it and Nate asked if you could be a mystery reader again!  I am very excited that I have 5 mystery readers booked from now until December and 2 more for after the new year.  We will have lots of slots open after January so think about it because your child will be so excited!!

What's the missing letter? Calvin is working hard to figure this out.  Nice work Calvin!
Walk the room - count & record
We are getting better at writing our numbers and counting using 1-1 correspondence.
Some children are also beginning to see amounts without counting or seeing three & counting on.  Our number sense is getting stronger!
Tucker is working on beginning sounds.

Noah, Harper, and Kupa are working on tapping out syllables or parts in words.  This is a tricky concept but one we will review all year.  We use arm tapping to help figure out the number of syllables.  Other strategies are clapping or putting your hand under your jaw and counting each time your jaw drops.

Kaylie & Aubree were selected as leaders in the beginning of music class.  Ms. Thompson was playing the tune on the guitar and they were leading the song.

Ella, Mila's sister, was a SOAR ticket winner and was able to select a reward.
She chose to be a teacher's helper in my class.  We were so excited to have her!
Ella read the story, Spookley the Square Pumpkin and then we made our own pumpkins out of different shapes!
Each child picked the shape they wanted and Ella helped them to trace it.

They had so much fun playing these games!
"Spooktacular" pumpkin parade!  The children loved walking through the halls and seeing the pumpkins displayed in the hallway.  Everyone did a fantastic job walking respectfully through the halls.  One thing we know, BMS has a lot of talented students!

I hope you enjoyed these pictures!  Next week, we will be getting together with Mrs. Bennett's Class a few times to do some fun activities!  We will be reading some stories, doing some crafts, and have a pumpkin investigation.  I know it will be a wonderful week!

Let me know if you have any questions!
