Kindergarten Happenings!

A busy week! Here are a few pictures from our week!
Ways to make 5.  Trying to find different ways to make 5.
Careful cutting.  We are working on our cutting skills.
Remember to slow down, stay on the line and take small scissor bites.

T is for toilet and tea cup.  We worked on the letter "Tt" this past week.

Using 5 two sided chips to find different ways to make five.
How many times would we shake 2+3, 4+1 or 5+0.

 Choice time fun!
Playing with the animals.
Being creative at the writing center.
Look at this awesome building the boys made!
They were so proud to share it!
We were "booed" which means someone sent us some special treats.
One of the treats was a color by number to see what we got. The children enjoyed doing this which was a bit tricky because we were working with larger numbers.  Some chose to finish, others did not and some kept it to finish later.
Working on HWT on the corner started V & W.
Meira is finishing up her letters.
Here is our "boo" bucket and the special treats.  I bought some treats so we can boo someone on Monday!  The kids will get a kick out of it.

Hope you had an awesome weekend!  Here's to another "spooktacular" week!
I am sure it will be a little CRAZY!!

Kindergarten Happenings!

What an amazing week!  We had so many exciting and wonderful things happen last week!
Monday began with the opening of our new playgrounds!  Boy was that exciting!  The children were beyond excited about playing on them.  We also had a visit from "Rita Rainbow"!  She came to talk to us about the "primary colors" red, blue and yellow.  They are special because they can make all the colors in the rainbow!  The children got to explore with these colors during work boards!  Finally the week ended with a wonderful visit from author Marty Kelley!  He was amazing!!
Work boards matching letters & beginning sounds
 Here are some playground pictures!!

OSMO!  I opened Osmo as one of our Daily Five stations.  The kids love it and can't wait to have a turn.  They will start with the tangram activity and then move into letters or numbers.  It is a great tool for learning and practicing skills.
 Listening center during Daily Five!
Wikki sticks ~ Look at those sight words!
Working in their sight word journals.
These are also a great tool to practice their reading as well.
 More playground fun!

 Math time ~ popcorn numbers
Nearby Numbers - picking out a number and trying to place it in the correct place
It can be pretty tricky but they worked as a team to figure it out.
 some serious thinking going on
Write the room - The students get to walk the room, find the cards and record how many objects are on each card.  It is a great way to keep them moving and also working.
Racing Bears game ~ Trying to be the first one to collect ten chips.
Rolling a dice, reading the number and moving the correct number of spaces.

GoNoodle ~ Provides wonderful movement activities for the children.  The children love the kidzbob songs and following the dance moves!  It is so cute to watch, I wish I could post a video!

Mixing colors - also a great way to work our finger muscles
 Daniel loved this activity
Writing center during choice time. They love creating and coloring!
Marty Kelley ~ A very cute and funny book he read to us!

Very excited about their new book marks from Marty Kelley!  He was amazing & super funny!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

She did a great job sharing her family page and favorite things.
She also brought in some items and it was fun trying to guess what they were from her clues.
We read the story she brought in about twins and loved her cute teddy.
Way to go Zoey!

 Thank you Lions Club!!
The children loved getting pumpkins today and can't wait to decorate them.
We will keep them at school and decorate them with some 4th grade buddies.

A great big THANK YOU is sent out to the Lion's club
for bringing us the pumpkins!
We finished talking about our senses today and apparently the children liked this last activity we did. They asked to play school during choice.  Addison was the teacher and they were using our "feel" box to continue the activity.  I also heard them have snack, recess and practiced math with the ten frames.  So adorable!!
Mr. Campbell will be sending out links to sign up for conferences this weekend.  I will follow up with one as well.  Please sign up for 1 time slot so we can discuss your child's progress.  Let me know if you have any questions.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
