It has been a busy two weeks!  The children have been hard at work and play!  I hope you enjoy the pictures from the last two weeks.
Bennett passed in a class reader coupon and read a story to the class!  Great job reading Bennett!
 Work boards
Addison is sorting blends - sh, ch, th, wh.  The blend may be missing in the beginning or end of the word.  Way to listen carefully!
Wyatt & Michael are working on segmenting sounds in CVC words.  They are doing a great job isolating each sound to hear what they are! We made corrections at the end.  I was very proud because there were not many to correct.
Decomposing numbers using chips and dry erase boards.  The kids did a great job on this and are getting the hang of it.

Learning how to be flexible when people change their minds.  Mrs. Checola was ordering ice cream and the children had to draw her order.  Throughout the activity she would change her mind so the children had to be "flexible" with their thinking.  It was difficult for some of our friends and they would moan because they were getting frustrated.  We discussed the feeling and how to handle it.

Sorting words with the same ending part.  Afterward many children challenged themselves to write the words.  They are doing a great job hearing all the sounds.
Counting, recording and using our graph to answer questions.
It is so important to work carefully and neatly.
 Pattern block creation
 Playdo ice cream shop!
Daily Five ~ Work on Writing
Some of the children really love choosing this activity because they can write about whatever they want.  I have seen a lot of improvement in their writing because they are building more confidence in their abilities.  Afterward the children love to share what they wrote.  I use this opportunity to point out a few positives about their writing (ideas, spacing, capitals, etc.) and also try to point out one thing to focus on next time.  I am so proud of all the children!

Daily Five ~ Read to Self
Enjoying a book about ocean animals!
Daily Five ~ Read to Someone
It is Journey's turn to read.  Meira just finished.  They take turns alternating and working the whole time.
Daily Five ~ Computer or Osmo
They are on a website that works on literacy skills to strengthen and reinforce what they have learned in class.
 Daily Five ~ Word Work
Word work changes but this particular activity is their sight word journal.  There are poems written and the children fill in the correct sight word.  Afterward they enjoy reading the poem and coloring the picture on the page.

 Math with Mr. Flournoy
After working on teen numbers he read a story about numbers and counting on.

Thank you Ms. Torgersen!!  She offered to give our hallway bulletin board a face lift.  Boy, does it look amazing and so Springy!!  Thank you for staying late and creating such a beautiful board!!

Mrs. Dumphey a dental hygienist came to talk to us about teeth and keeping them clean.  We talked about brushing twice a day, flossing once a day and eating healthy foods.  The children were excited to have their teeth counted!
 Marble Party!!!
We enjoyed some much needed extra time outside during our marble party.  As you will see in the pictures the children loved celebrating in the fresh air!!
Smiles all around!!!

 Swinging is a favorite activity!

These two were making up some dance moves!
Hanging out on the climbing structure!

I love the shirt and tie!
 A few monkeys hanging around.

Then I found a couple more!

 Look at these cool dudes!!
 Some fancy moves happening here!
Using her muscles as she climbed up the pole!

Class reader coupon for Meira!  Nice job reading to the group!
Math puzzle partner work!  Different ways to make numbers.

Practicing teen numbers.  Looking at ten frames and selecting the correct number.
 Buddy Time
We got together with our 4th grade buddies on Friday.  The 4th graders read a story to us.  Some of the kindergarteners read a book from their browsing box to their buddy as well.  They then drew pictures about their book.  They love spending time with their buddies.  It is always so exciting!!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. We are working on our quiet voices in class.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!
