Happy New Year!

Here are some pictures from our week.
Star Student ~ Olivia
Olivia was so excited to be the Star Student this week.  She did a wonderful job sharing her pictures, pages and sharing items.  She brought in a lite brite, rainbow light and a special puppy.  She gave the kids a clue about what was inside the bag and had them guess what it was.  Way to go Olivia!!
sorting real and silly words
Observing our class tree and the winter changes. The children wrote and
illustrated about what they noticed.
Putting sentences in order. This took some patients but the children stuck with it and read the words.  Then they sequenced the words in the correct order so it would make sense. They used clues about capital at the beginning and punctuation marks to help them get started.
Strengthening our finger muscles.  Mrs. Trudeau came in and had us hold a paper on a vertical surface, pinch a crayon properly and color using small circle motions.  This helps to build strong core muscles, finger tip muscles and posture.
We started "Work on Writing" during Daily Five.  The children are sequencing how to build a snowman and then writing to tell about each picture.  Most of these were done independently and I have been amazed at their work.  Some children may write a word or two to tell about the picture and others are writing a sentence.  They are doing a terrific job and I am so proud of them!  As they write they are becoming more confident in themselves.
Listening to the story, The Hat, sequencing the pictures and retelling the story.  This is a tricky story with a lot of parts but the students are doing a nice job!
Computer work using Starfall.
Missing numbers!  Filling in the missing numbers.

We hope you have a fabulous weekend!
