Kindergarten Happenings!

Wow!  What a great first week we had!  The children are doing well learning the routines of school.  We will continue to practice the rules and routines for the next few weeks.  The children are doing a terrific job with the morning routine and next week we will have them try walking down to the class on their own.  Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Bjorn and I have been meeting them at the bus and PPU doors to help them get to the classes.  Next week we will see if they can find it on their own.  Don't worry, Mrs. Rapa, Nurse Ana and a few additional staff members are in the front hallways every morning.  Here are some pictures from the week.  I hope you enjoy seeing some of the things we do in the classroom!

Welcome to Kindergarten at BMS!
We began the week with a bus tour and classroom visit.
Sarah is reading a book.
Isaac is enjoying his snack.
Working together on some puzzles.

Exploring pattern blocks

A terrific first day!!
Making a self portrait & practicing some cutting
We talked about "thumbs up" when you cut.

We learned that our helper hand moves the paper as we cut.

Enjoying some recess time!
Playing trucks in the sandbox.

Working on our fine motor skills and building our finger muscles.
We were pinching and tearing paper using our index finger and thumbs.

On Friday we enjoyed our snack outside.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAAC!!!
We celebrated Isaac's birthday on Friday.  He will turn 6 on Saturday.  If you see him wish him a "Happy Birthday".  Isaac we hope you have a wonderful weekend celebrating!
Movement Time
As you can see we had a busy week.  Don't be surprised if your child is tired the first couple of months as they adjust to the longer days and routine of school.  Have a wonderful long weekend!!
