Kindergarten Happenings!!

Here is a display of all the 100th day projects from both classes.  Mrs. Bennett and I put them in the gym for the other grades to have a chance to see the kindergarteners hard work!  Mrs. Reilly said the other students really enjoyed looking at them during lunch time!  Way to go kindergarten!  We are so PROUD of you!!  Cohort B took their projects home on Friday and Cohort A will take them home this week.  We also put a special certificate in their folders.

Bowling Subtraction!
The children loved this activity and had fun bowling, subtracting and writing equations.  The students were paired together.  One student would be in charge of writing the equation while the other student would bowl.  They each had three turns then they traded spaces.  They did this a few times so they could get some good subtraction practice in.  This is one of the suggested activities for the weekly learning mat.  Students could use water bottles and set them up as pins.

This was also a great activity to practice turn taking and working together.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AVERY!!
Avery will be celebrating her 6th birthday on Monday!  We sang on Friday since she won't be in school until Thursday!  We hope you have an amazing day Avery!  If you see Avery on Monday, wish her a happy birthday!
Hannah did a wonderful writing words from the short vowel activity she completed.

Work boards: Short vowel sort & matching sentences to pictures.

Cutting and matching  pictures to the correct sentence.

Writing equations as his partner bowls.
Math subtraction write the room.  The students quietly walked around the room, looked at the card and had to write the equation to match the picture.  They did a great job!

Journal writing ~ The children are doing a great job writing using spaces, and punctuation. Some are really getting the hang of stretching out words and others do best with assistance. Everyone is working hard and doing their best!!

Showing off their bald eagles!
Nikolai filled in his Dr. Seuss hat.  He wrote the name of the book on each line and colored it in.  Here he is with his hat and certificate.
Scarlett also completed hers.  I forgot to grab a picture!
Way to go Nikolai & Scarlett!!
Sorting digraphs ~ sh, ch, th, wh
Another wonderful journal entry for Cooper!!

We had a great week!  I am very proud of all the work the students are doing!  We have been so impressed with their National Symbol writing and craft activities!  They are displayed in the hallway for the staff and students to see!  Keep up the awesome work kindergarten!

Reminder this week we do not have school on Wednesday.
Looking forward to a wonderful week!
