Kindergarten Happenings!

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend!  This week we were quite busy once again working hard on reading, writing, math and science activities. We continue to mark the spots on the map where the gingerbread man has been spotted.  It is amazing to see all the places he has traveled!  Thank you for your help with this activity.  Here are some pictures from the week.
CVC words- Nice job stretching the word to hear the sounds!
Syllable sort - way to tap out the parts in a word
Journal writing - The children are doing a wonderful job in their journals.  We are working on sentence structure and stretching words to hear the sounds.  Some of the students are becoming more independent with journals writing which is great to see!
 Enjoying a yummy snack!
Special STEM activity with The Three Little Pigs
We listened to the story and then were challenged to build a structure that the wolf couldn't blow down.  The students worked in groups of 3 to plan and build their structures. They each made a predication if the wolf could blow it down or not.  Afterwards, the wolf (hairdryer with a wolf mask) came by to huff and puff!  The children were really excited and anxious to see what would happened.  If the wolf was able to blow it down, students worked to strengthen their structure and we tried it again.  Here are some pictures from our activity.

Fine motor fun - stringing the mitten.
A special mystery reader from first grade!
Kasey's brother Jackson came to read us a story.  The children were very excited and happy to have him join our class and read a story!  He did an amazing job!  It is amazing how their reading blooms within a year of learning and practicing!

Two birthdays were celebrated this week!
Kasey & Aubree turned six!
We celebrated Kasey on Tuesday and Aubree on Friday.
Happy birthday girls!  We hope you enjoyed your special days!
Special MLK activity with Mrs. Bennett's Class
We gathered together to learn about Martin Luther King Jr. and then completed a writing activity about something we could do to make our light shine!  They did a nice job working together!

We hope you had a wonderful weekend!
