Kindergarten Happenings!

Another terrific week in the books!  The children have already filled half their marble jar!  They are learning the routines and working hard each day.  We still have a few to review and practice but they are off to a great start!  Nice work kindergarten!!
This week we visited the BMS garden and got to see lots of tomatoes and pumpkins!  Afterwards we wrote and illustrated about what we saw.
 Checking out the large pumpkins!
Hmm, why is there a tomato in the bird bath?
"What do you think? How did it get their?"
Great discussion question with the kiddos.

Happy birthday Tucker!  We hope you had a fabulous day!  Tucker brought some special plates to share during snack time and we sang the birthday song to him!  He also got a special birthday pencil during lunch.
Look at these two birthday cuties!  Hope their day was filled with smiles & fun!
Movement with Heidi Songs.  The children had fun moving and dancing to some number and shape songs.  We will include a variety of movement activities throughout the year to keep our brains and bodies ready to learn.

Practicing numbers using the magnetic boards.

Practicing numbers using the Wet Dry Try app from Handwriting Without Tears.
Each child has their own special code to log in and practice.  We will practice numbers and upper case and lower case letters too using this app.

Strengthening our finger muscles rolling tissue paper with our fingers and thumb.  We had to try to do it with one hand as a time.  It was tricky but we did a great job! Afterwards we glued the tissue paper onto the letters of the alphabet.  We hope to hang it in the classroom in time for Open House!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom STEM Challenge
The children worked in pairs to try and build a tree using a toilet paper roll, 9 sticks and 26 letters.  I think every group was able to balance the 26 letters on 9 sticks!  We then challenged them to balance all the letters o n 7, 5, or 3 sticks!  They really enjoyed this activity!

Here are some of the successful faces!  As you can see they were very proud of themselves!!

It was also a great way to work on talking with each other, taking turns, sharing the materials and problem solving!  We will do more of these activities as the year goes on.
Picture day!  Waiting patiently for everyone to be ready for the class photo!
Choice time
Science center with floam.
Kinetic sand table
Legos
Look who came to visit!  Mrs. Bennett's class joined us on Thursday for choice time!
The kids loved hanging out with their friends!

Math activities
Sequencing numbers to make a picture with these pieces 1-20.

Practicing number 3
Shaving cream fun!  Another great way to practice numbers by using shaving cream!

Working as a team! Roll the dice and cover the number. A fun way to recognize numbers numerically and in dots.

Walking to the police and fire station! We did a great job walking safely and staying together.

Taking a few minutes to rest before we head back!
As you can see we have been working hard this week!
We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
