Kindergarten Happenings!

Another great week in kindergarten!  We had the opportunity to visit the 4th grade projects.  The children enjoyed walking to the different tables and learning about the different tribes.  We continued to work on addition and challenged some to find the missing part.  This was a little more difficult but got their brains thinking.  We wrote in our journals and did a writing prompt!  I was impressed with the writing prompt as it is an assessment so teachers do not support student output.  I was happy to see everyone wrote something on their own!  Mid year assessments are almost completed and I will work on getting you the results once they are complete.  We are also working on listening to sounds and blending them, segmenting sounds and then reading words in print. We continue to practice sight words as well.  The most exciting news is the marbles we earned on our Zooms Wednesday filled the marble jar!!  So we will celebrate our reward on Monday, February 1st and Friday, February 5th. Check your email for details!  Terrific job kindergarteners!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY XAVIER!!!
On Friday, we celebrated Xavier's 6th birthday!!  He was very excited to have the children sing to him and pick out his birthday bag treat!  We hope Xavier has an awesome birthday and enjoys his special day!

Agatha & Anthony are working on writing about animal tracks.

Xavier is working on writing his sight words.
Danny, Hannah & Anna are working on their writing prompts.  I see some nice details and sentence writing happening!

Scarlett is working on rhyming words/pictures.
Emily is working on unscrambling sentences.
This week we also talked about Groundhog's Day with Cohort B and created a burrow with watercolors.  We talked about shadows and light, which we will continue with next week.
We will complete this activity with Cohort A next week.

Avery & Scarlett are working on writing sentences.  I see some great spaces, punctuation and capitals at the beginning.  Keep up the terrific work!
