Kindergarten Happenings!

We had an eventful week with lots of exciting things happening.
Here are pictures of our week!
First I would like to thank Jordan, Tucker, Amelia, Kaylie, Makenna, and their families for the generous book donations from the book fair.  We have enjoyed reading some of them this week. Thank you for thinking of us!
School Meeting for grades K - 2.
During our school meeting the attendance award for the month was a three way tie with a 95% rate of attendance in each grade.  How crazy is that?
The hard worker of the month for October went to Jordan Holmes! We are so proud of you and the amazing job you are doing!  Keep working hard, being kind and trying your best whether it is something easy or difficult.  Effort in everything you do is key!
It must have been her lucky day because she also earned the
Artist of the Month for October given by Mrs. Kuppens.
Fine motor strengthening. Using little crayons to work on our pincher grasp and making circles to fill the circles.  This helps to build stamina and proper grip formation.
We learned our last corner starter Z and practiced all the other corner starters.
This week we will begin learning center starters.

Daily Five in action!
Osmo - working together to build pictures using tangrams.
Listening Center - Listening to a story and then drawing/writing about it on their own.
Practicing sight words with our sight word journals.
A little word work with stamps. Stamping the beginning sounds of words.
Another word work choice. Using wikki sticks to build sight words!

 Mystery Reader
Mr. Holmes came in to be a mystery reader on Tuesday.
Thank you for taking the time to come and read a great story about Autumn.
This was a cute book about a bear and a sneeze. The children loved it!

Work board - counting, graphing and recording the correct number
Working together to hear the sounds in these CVC words.  I was very proud of their hard work.  They heard a lot of beginning and ending sounds, mostly needing help with the vowels which is expected at this time of year!  Way to go girls!!

Happy Birthday Mila!!  Mila celebrated her 6th birthday on Thursday!  We sang to her and she was super excited to see her mom was the mystery reader for the day! What a special treat!!
Another mystery reader surprise for a special occasion!  Thank you Mrs. Felo and Brielle for coming in to read us two terrific stories about tigers!  Mila was especially excited because tigers are her favorite animal.  Mrs. Felo also brought animal masks for the children to design.
We loved having you both!!  Thanks again!

Scratching the animal masks during choice time.
The children loved seeing the magic colors appear.
Push pin art - another great way to practice the pincher grip.
 Great design Aubree & William
 Marble Party
Pajamas, stuffed animals, and silly faces!
Extra recess for the win for the marble party
We enjoyed extra recess on Friday for our marble party.
The children had a great time!

We hope you all had a wonderful week as well!
Next week we have a full week and then two days the following week.  November is flying by!
We are also in the midst of planning a walking field trip to the fire station.  We do not have a set time or day yet but will be sure to let you know so you can dress your child appropriately.
