Kindergarten Happenings!

We had another terrific week in kindergarten!  The children loved exploring the new science area filled with things to do using your senses.  We wrote in our journals, practiced word work activities, strengthened our finger and hand muscles and much more!  We earned some marbles to start filling our empty jar again.  I hope you enjoy the pictures below sharing some of our hard work and fun!

 Learning about our 5 senses.
Fine Dinning - Ariana, a second grader, was the lucky winner last week and picked fine dinning. She chose to have her friend Ella and their siblings, Mila & Enzo, join them at lunch!  Such a cute group!
Building our hand muscles with hole punchers.
We have to find the correct upper and lower case letters.

Writing in our sight word journals.  We have learned the words I, can, the, we and see so far.  We will continue to practice reading and writing these words.
Building towers to match the number on the card. An extra challenge to earn a SOAR ticket was to line the cards and towers up in sequence. I was excited to see some of the children strive to do this.
After building the towers we talked about more, less and how many more.

Working on our number book.  We are completing pages 8 & 9.  We only have one page to go and our book will be complete! They are doing a great job on this book!  A lot of three star coloring!

HWT practicing writing the number 9.
"A circle and a line, that's how you make the number 9."

 Way to go Kaylie!!
Kupa was our Star of the Week!  She did a great job sharing her "All about Me" pages and her family page. She also brought in a book for me to read to the class.  We hope you had a great week Kupa!  Nice job sharing!
We were talking about vowels and why they are so special.  We learned that you can not make a word without a vowel.  We sang two songs to help us rmember the vowels and then circled the vowels in our names.

Math write the room activity.  The children love this activity because they get to walk around the room, find cards and count how many objects are on the card.  Afterwards they record the number on their sheet.  It is a great way to practicing counting and writing numbers.  Best of all they get to move and stretch their legs!

As we learn about our senses we are also making a book. The children were able to practicing coloring and cutting as well.
 Fine motor fun!
HWT practicing frog jump letters D & P.
Push pin art - this is a smaller version of what we did a few weeks ago.
It is really good to work on the pincher grip.

Listening to our heart
What do you feel?
Choice time - Having fun building with legos and using stuffed animals.
Building with Magna tiles & playing with cars!

 Playing with playdo!
Finding the lower case letter that matches the upper case letter.  Using small clothes pins to select our choice.  Pinching the clip helps build our finger muscles.
Drawing and writing about our favorite place to go.
Popcorn math - counting the dots on the popcorn buckets and finding the number that matches.
Another write the room. This time we are using ten frames to count and record.

Happiest of birthdays to Kaylie and Nate!  Kaylie is celebrating her birthday today, Friday and Nate celebrates on Saturday!  We hope they both have a terrific day and a wonderful birthday weekend!  We sang to them and wished them the best year yet!

We have a full week next week.  We will continue learning about our senses.  We will also continue with numbers 0-10 comparing them using terms like more, less, greater, fewer.  We will also continue with handwriting frog jump letters and building stamina during Daily Five word work activities.  We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
