Kindergarten Happenings!

Wow! We are heading into our last full week of school!  I can't even believe how fast this year flew by.  It is hard to imagine that we only have 7 days of school left!  We have been extremely busy these past two weeks engaged in a variety of activities!  This will be a long post as I have a lot to share from the last two weeks.  Sorry I didn't get a post in last week but you won't miss anything because we have plenty of pictures to share.  Enjoy!
End of the year writing prompt. I was amazed by their writing and effort on this activity. I sent their mid year writing prompt and end of the year prompts home this week.  I hope you enjoyed looking at your child's and were excited to see all the progress they made.

Excited to share their creations using pattern blocks.
Hexagon challenge ~ How many ways can you make a hexagon using different pattern blocks. Some children loved this challenge while others had a difficult time persevering through it.

 Making shapes using geo boards!
Official authors and illustrators!  The children were so excited to get their books back from the publishing company!  We read the book together and they were very excited to look more closely at it while holding their own books.  We hope you enjoyed the book as much as we did! A nice keepsake to look back on.
 Shark Show
Last week we had a show that taught us about sharks and shark safety.  The children really enjoyed hearing the information and watching the slide show.  They especially liked the fossils shown to them.
This is a fossil of a megalodon shark tooth!  Look at the size of this one tooth!!
Another exciting buddy activity. The 4th grade buddies helped the kindergarteners build a shade structure out of recycled materials.  They had a wonderful time with this activity.  They planned the structure out using paper and pencil. Then they went to work constructing and building the structure!  Great job buddies!!

When they finished their structures they read some books together!

Look at this tower!  Nice work Everett!
Harry Potter day in the library!  Thank you Mrs. Eckelmann for this awesome opportunity!  The children loved dressing up and engaging in Hogwarts School activities.

Mystery Reader!  YAY!! Journey was so excited to have her cousin come and read. Thank you Jaydien for taking the time to come and read to us!  We loved the story Stripes

Animals made out of shapes.  We read the story Color Zoo and then made our own animals out of shapes.  Check them out below!

Kindergarten puppet show for the incoming kindergarteners. Both the current and incoming kindergarteners enjoyed a puppet show by Pumpernickel Puppets on Wednesday.  Thank you LINK Inc. for sponsoring this wonderful show!  The children really enjoyed the performance!

First Grade Mystery Reader!  We had two special readers this week.  Dominic and Kacie from first grade came to read to our class.  They did a fantastic job and the children really enjoyed the stories they read.
5th Grade vs Teachers kickball game
Unfortunately the 5th graders beat the teachers but we all had a great time!  The final score was 11-7! The children enjoyed cheering on the sidelines.  Thank you to Mrs. Williamson, Mrs. Mancini and Mrs. Roberts for coming and helping to watch the children as the teachers took the field.  Some lasted the entire game while others took a break and had a little choice time inside.  If I forgot anyone that may have helped out I apologize but know I appreciated your assistance!

Happy Birthday Ava!  Ava turned 6 on Thursday.  We sang to her and enjoyed spending the day together.  She says she really likes 5 and wasn't sure about being 6 yet!  So cute!!

Today we had summer reading kickoff event! We enjoyed a story teller and a few of our kindergarteners were lucky to be chosen as a helper.  Ava helped in one story by dancing with flags. Everett and Jackson helped by being frogs in another story.  The children enjoyed the stories.
The story teller will be at the Berlin Public Library on Wednesday, June 19th at 4:00 I believe.
Feel free to visit and enjoy her storytelling.
Our 4th grade buddies had a special parade today to show off their hard work!  They each made a float to represent one of the states. We stood around the playground as they drove their floats around. The children enjoyed seeing the work and their buddies!
 Daniel is the Star Student!
Great job sharing Spiderman and all about yourself!
Today we used our shade structures to see if they worked. We discussed which structure gave the most shade, least shade and how we could improve our current structures.  They had some really good ideas!
Class of 2026 lip sync!  We enjoyed the 5th grade lip sync Friday afternoon.  They put on a wonderful show!  Hopefully you had an opportunity to see the show Friday night!
Happy birthday Dan!  Dan will turn 6 on Saturday.  If you see him be sure to wish him a happy birthday!  We hope you have a wonderful weekend Dan!
First tooth!!  Mrs. Langelier was happy to share in the excitement of Addison loosing her first tooth!

I hope you enjoyed the recap of the last two weeks!  Have a fantastic weekend!!
