Kindergarten Happenings!

Another busy week in the books!  We learned about forces doing some simple push and pull experiments.  We worked on numbers to 100 with many hands on activities. We also did some awesome writing activities!  The children are really becoming great readers and writers!  Keep up the terrific work!  Here are some pictures of our learning!
Working on a simple push exercise by trying to get the marble in the middle of the string.
Showing off their pattern block creation
Monday was full of excitement on the playground when the two new structures opened.
 Nearby Numbers
There are three levels available for the children to find the missing numbers. Some numbers are provided and then they need to figure out what the missing numbers are.

Putting a 100's chart back together after they were cut into different pieces.
Michael moved onto a more difficult Nearby Number activity card

Figuring out what numbers are hiding under the blocks.
Showing off their finished 120's charts!
 Great job!!

Learning about soft and hard pushes.
We learned that a soft push doesn't go as far or as fast.  A hard push moves further and faster.

The top picture is a hard push and the bottom picture is a soft push.

Learning about strong and weak pulls.
We learned that a strong pull moves faster and goes further. A weak pull moves slow and doesn't move very far.

Read to Someone during Daily Five ! Happy to share their reading with one another!
Working on our sight word journals!  These will be great books to keep and practice reading over the summer!  It will reinforce the sight words we learned in kindergarten!
Word Work - building CVC words
Work on Writing - The students love this activity because they can write about anything they want.  We have been working on building on our writing and providing some more detail.
 Stamping sight words

Math~ filling in the missing numbers on a 100's chart

 Counting by 10's
Playing connect four on a 100's chart
Wyatt passed in a show and tell coupon and shared a special glove.
Another great creation using legos this time!
We have been working on opinion writing. One activity was using a book titled Duck! Rabbit!  There is a figure that the students have to decide if it looks like a duck or if it looks like a rabbit.  The students had to provide us with a reason they chose the one they did.

We celebrated Meira's birthday on Friday!  Hope you had a wonderful birthday and weekend Meira! Here is a pattern block creation that she made!
Bennett's very large fire truck puzzle
More pattern blocks!  They love creating things with them.
Two second grade mystery readers!  Jordan and Sam joined us during Star time to read us a story. The children were so excited to have them visit the class and read to them.

WE hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms and grandmothers!  Hope you enjoy your special day!!
