Kindergarten Happenings!

The weeks keep getting more and more exciting!  This week we enjoyed a puppet show with the incoming kindergartners.  We would like to thank LINK Inc. for sponsoring Pumpernickel Puppets each year so the new group of kindergartners can have a wonderful introduction to BMS.  The current kindergartners also love the show and having the little ones visit.  Afterward they got busy making puppets in the classroom at the writing center.  It was so cute to watch them engage themselves in crafts using paper, pom poms, popsicle sticks and more to create their own puppets!

The children were truly inspired by all his amazing puppets!

Star Student!!  Hunter was our final star student for the year!  Hunter brought in a favorite book to read to the class.  He did a great job reading his book, sharing his pages and telling about the other items he brought in to share.  Way to go Hunter!!

Work boards ~ Organizing sentence scrambles
Sorting words ~ Is it a noun, verb or adjective?
Counting objects, writing numbers & comparing the two.  Is it greater than, less than or equal?

Triangle challenge ~ How many different ways can you fill the triangle using pattern blocks?

Final planting activity.  The students were challenged to create/draw a plant and label its parts. They could draw, paint or build using pattern blocks, legos or any material they wanted.  They did an amazing job!  I was very impressed with the time and effort they put into this task!  They also had to tell me the things a plant needs to grow when they showed me their final product.
Way to work hard!!
They asked for a smiling one and a working picture.

Daily Five - Sharing their work on writing.  This is done on their own while Miss Hutchinson and I read with other students.  The writing they produce amazes me!!
Teacher Appreciation Lunch!  Thank you for all the yummy food and donations that were made.  We enjoyed our lunch immensely.  These were super cute koozies!
Delicious food!
Miss Hutchinson & Mrs. Donahoe vs Mrs. Bennett & myself!  We had a chance to enjoy a fun game of cornhole between our lunch and dessert treats!  Truly the best lunch I have had all year!
Thank you!!
To top off this wonderful week, we also celebrated our hard work with a Marble Party on Friday.  The students wanted to wear their pj's and bring in a stuffed friend.  We also spent some time at extra recess and also had a little choice time!  They students were very happy to be able to both!!

It is hard to believe there are only a couple weeks of school left!  Wow!!  Next week we will be very busy too.  On Monday & Tuesday, Mrs. Bennett, Miss Hutchinson and I will be conducting Kindergarten Screening for the incoming class.  So, there will be a substitute in the room on Monday and Tuesday.  On Thursday we will enjoy field day!  This is another favorite day of the school year!  Please remember to wear your red t-shirts on the 14th and apply sunscreen before school!  Friday will be another special day as we will enjoy extra recess as part of the penny wars reward & we will enjoy our ice cream sundaes in the afternoon!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
