Hands on Nature with Ms. Heather
WOW! We had an amazing time with Ms. Heather exploring the pond! The kids did an exceptional job taking turns with the nets, being careful and finding all sorts of different creatures. Ms. Heather had buckets and containers where we were able to place our findings and get a true hands on experience with the animals. We would like to thank LINK Inc. for offering this opportunity to us! It is honestly one of my favorite things we do!! To top it off we had a PERFECT day weather wise! Here are a ton of pictures from our awesome afternoon!
We began learning about the creatures we would see in the pond and what different animals looked like at different stages in their life.
Ms. Torgersen helping the children scoop up some little creatures.
Happy explorers
I was super excited about one of my own catches! A HUGE bullfrog!
Meira had a really exciting catch. A crayfish with little tiny eggs attached to it. We showed the children but then placed it back in the pond so that the eggs would survive.
When you turn them over they are simply beautiful.
Daniel had a great catch as well. A big bullfrog! He was so very proud of himself!
Wyatt & Eryl enjoying the pond experience!
Touching the tadpoles
Looking carefully and closely for a good catch!
Reaching in but being careful not to get wet! Nice work Everett!

He did find a very large blue crayfish. Sadly it was dead but very cool to look at.
Michael is paitiently waiting for the best opportunity to plunge the net!
Meira and Riona looking very happy with their discoveries.
Ms. Heather and I caught a few painted turtles.
As you can see, I was super excited with my best catch yet! Two painted turtles in one scoop!
Time to explore!
Michael liked this little frog.
Tadpoles we caught. There were more but we let some go.

Getting ready to say goodbye to our creature friends.
Mrs. Bennett released one of the painted turtles.
Ms. Torgersen was super excited to catch a frog!
She found it at the other water area and caught it with her hands!
Catching teeny tiny tadpoles with our hands.
As you can see it was an amazing day! The children had a blast! Thank you for remembering to send in extra shoes or boots. We only had a few children get a little wet but everyone was happy and proud of their discoveries!
