It is hard to believe we are in the first week of May! The year is flying by.
Here are some pictures from our week!
We will be mailing our book to be published on Monday! We are very excited to see the finished product. Here is a sample of our group photo that will be on the author page. It will take a few weeks for the book to be published.
In math we began working with numbers to 100.
The children worked on a few centers to help them navigate numbers 1-100.
Working as partners to make numbers with tens & ones. Sometimes they are given the number (21) and other times they are given the number of tens & ones to make (2 tens one one).
Meira is working on the cover of the book. So exciting! We had a lot of candidates that wanted to do the cover. Meira was the lucky name that got picked.
Ava is working carefully on her writing for her page.
Number puzzles - different ways to make teen numbers
Chilling out with a book!
On Friday afternoon we started talking about force, push & pull. We did a few experiments to see how much force we needed to push a ball on the rug & how that force changed when we moved to the floor.
We did another experiment with a piece of yarn and a marble. We made a circle with the yarn and had to push the marble into the circle. Again we tried this on the rug and on the floor. We discovered it was much harder to get it in the circle when we were on the floor because the marble moved much faster. We also talked about friction! The kids enjoyed these simple experiments.
Next week we will continue discussing push & pull while we conduct a few more simple experiments. We will also begin planting activities. In writing we are working on opinions and stating our opinion about something. This week we wrote about which was our favorite to draw with markers or crayons. Next week we will have to decide between swings or slides, cat or dog and then we have a story to ready about a rabbit or duck.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
