Here is a glimpse of some of the activities we worked on this week!
* beginning sound match
* ten frame # match 0-10 & 0-20
* cutting practice
* spooky ten frames
* Star Student
* Birthday Boy
* water colors
* HWT ~ V & W
* science ~ pond visit
Owen is matching the beginning sound to the correct letter. He did an amazing job!
Olivia, Jimmy & Lily are working on ten frame number match ups. They first worked with numbers 0-10 then challenged themselves to do 0-20. We also looked at the ten frames 0-10 to see how quickly the children could recognize the quantity.
AJ & Jude are concentrating on cutting the season pieces for their season puppets. We talked about slowing down and staying on the lines. This is an important kindergarten skill to practice. Everyone's cutting is improving with practice and patience.
SPOOKY TEN FRAMES! The kids loved this activity. They first worked in partners then alone to finish up. They took turns flipping a card, reading the number and showing the amount in ice cube trays that represent ten frames. The coolest part was using the "spooky" eyeballs! The students also recorded their ten frames on the recording sheet.
*** STAR STUDENT ***
AJ was our Student of the Week. He brought in a book, card game and fluffy fox to share with his friends. He was super excited about sharing and made it into a guessing game. If the kids had trouble he would give them a clue. He did a great job managing this task. Super job AJ!!
Jimmy is 6!! Happy birthday! We hope you had a terrific day! He felt a little shy about taking a picture but it still came out super cute!
The children painted a tree for each season.
Two more corner starters. V & W were taught this week. We will continue to practice frog jump and corner starters. Our goal is to complete all upper case letters in December and begin lower case letters in January.
Science ~ visiting the pond
Have a wonderful weekend!
