A Lot of Science Happening in Kindergarten

We had a wonderful week exploring science!

We took advantage of the snowfall on Tuesday night to talk about States of Matter.  We discussed snow and the changes it makes from a solid to a liquid.  I brought in some snow so the children had a chance to explore and build small snowmen.  They were very excited about this activity and also made model magic snowmen.  Today they wrote about their snowman using adjectives to describe how their snow person looked.
Some children opted for bare hands and then quickly changed
their mind and wore their gloves while exploring.

Working on model magic snow people.

We measured our snow person and measured them again once we noticed some melting.  It was a little messy but a lot of fun!  The children enjoyed the hands on experience while learning about solids and liquids.

 Building CVC words
 Fine motor strengthening with pennies

Oh boy!  More science with our 3rd grade buddies!  We explored force.

Mrs. Donahoe and I had a PD in the Maker Space and were very inspired to try it with the children.  It is taking a little longer than planned but we hope to continue and finish our project tomorrow.  The children are building a vehicle, such as a wind racer, using K'Nex. Once all the vehicles are built we will be using fans to have a race!  The kids are very excited about the final outcome.  I will post pictures once our project is completed!
