Kindergarten Happenings!

A great week ended with some extra recess earned by winning the "golden spatula" in the cafeteria for earning SOAR tickets for positive behaviors!  Way to go Kindergarten!
Someones trash was my treasure!  I found this awesome table for "free" on the side of the road and it makes a perfect science table!
Matching beginning sounds to the correct letter.  A challenge that was easier for some than others but everyone worked hard and never gave up!  We all start at different places and grow through the year.  We will continue to reinforce and practice letter sound connections all year.  I am so proud of everyone and their hard work!!

Working on finding rhyming mail messages! So excited that hard work pays off!  Way to go Mila!!

Choice time free drawing activity.  Great picture Noah!

A big thank you goes out to the Lion's Club!  Everyone received a pumpkin at school this past week. We will gather with our third grade buddies to decorate them on Tuesday!

10 Black Dots by Donald Crews has inspired us to make our own black dot book.
It will be titled "15 Black Dots" where each child made something out of a certain number of black dots.  I was very impressed with their creativity and the final book will be sent out to preview once we get through passing around our first book bag.

As you can see they all did an amazing job!!

Look at this group enjoying sharing their family pages with each other! Thank you parents for helping them complete these.  It was totally worth your time and energy! 😊

Paw Parts - Enzo is taping out the number of syllables in the word(picture) posted on the paw.  Afterwards he clips the correct number to tell us if he tapped out 1, 2, 3 or 4 syllables.  A tricky concept but he did a great job!!
 Extra recess makes us smile!!
Enzo, Jordan & Kaylie worked really hard at Daily Five word work station.  They wrote their names and the entire alphabet using wikki sticks!  Way to go you three!!  That shows us lots of STAMINA!!

We had a great week as you can see.  Next week we will talk about shapes, colors and continue to work with letters/sounds.  We will also continue working with numbers 0-10 and comparing them.  I am so proud of you all!  Keep working hard and having fun!!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Kindergarten Happenings!

Here are some pictures from another busy week in kindergarten!  I was out on Monday but the substitute reported that the children did an amazing job and earned 7 marbles!!  That might be a record!  I was proud of them for doing such a great job!
Building our fine motor skills and practicing making circles
using the small little crayons to help our pincher grip.
We've been BOOed!!  The children were excited to get booed!  They had a chance to pick out a special treat and a paper activity if they wanted.  We then passed the bucket around to boo another class!  A fun way to celebrate the season!
Unpacking our box full of "Fun"dations materials!  We were super excited to meet Echo the Owl and Baby Echo.  They will help us learn our letter names and sounds.  It will give your children another tool to use when learning the letter & sounds.
Playing compare to help us learn about numbers 0-10.  The children loved playing this game.  It is like the old fashion game "war" so if you want to take out a deck of cards it is a great game to play with your child.

Osmo!  We introduced Osmo as one of our Daily Five activities.  The children were very excited about this and cant wait to have a turn.  The activities involve tangrams, letters/sounds and number concepts.

Writing sight words in our sight word journal.
Checking out the pumpkins in the garden with Mrs. Bennett's Class before we pick them.

The tiniest pumpkin ever!

Enjoying some books!
Putty & slime at the science center.
Nice job girls!
We have learned all the "frog jump" letters.
E, F, D, P, R, B, M & N
Mailbox Rhymes
Matching pictures that rhyme.  One is on a mailbox and one is on a letter.
Nice work Tucker!

Math write the room.  Find the missing number & write it on the page.

We had a productive week and finished learning about our senses.
Next week we will talk about tools that help us learn.
We hope you have a wonderful long weekend!
