WOW,  what an amazing week! We started our week with a day of science!  Thanks to LINK for providing us with the opportunity to have Heather Simpson from "Hands on Nature" come in and help us explore and discover.  We had a chance to look at plants and animals at the pond, vernal pool and water area near the parking lot.  The kids loved it!  We also borrowed a few small tadpoles and large bullfrog tadpoles and put them in aquariums to observe in our classroom for a little bit.
A slide show prior to heading out so we would know
some of the things we would see on our adventure!

Miss Heather had an example of a large bullfrog tadpole for us to touch and look at.
She also had a baby sun turtle and some containers for us to put the things we found in.

Here are some of the creatures we caught!

Kindergarten Happenings!

Here are some pictures from our busy week!
It is hard to believe we have a little over a month left of school.
Michael is helping to fill in the morning message.
It is always fun eating lunch with our friends!
Practicing for our show!  Our first practice with both classes went really well.  We still have some work to do but I know the show will turn out great!  Keep practicing those parts!
Making our 11th class book!  Wow, we almost have enough so everyone can take one home at the end of the year!  This one was a book about shapes. The students picked a shape, added a few details to turn it into something else.  They did a terrific job!

I found this big guy on my way to the car the other day!  Hopefully we will get to see other little creatures on Tuesday, May 15th with Ms. Heather Simpson!  Looking forward to our Hands on Nature adventure!  Thank you LINK for supporting this activity!
What a great way to start my morning!  These smiles just light up my day!
Working in groups to compare two shapes.  How are they the same?
How are they different?  The children did a great job with this activity!
 "I have...who has....?"
This was a fun activity to help us work on color and shape identification.
The kids loved seeing who had the shape they were asking for.
 Hexagon Challenge
How many ways can you make a hexagon with pattern blocks?
The children were challenged to find 6 ways to make a hexagon. Then they were double challenged to find more than 6 ways.  Kacie was the first to discover 9 ways to make a hexagon!  Many others were also able to discover the 9 ways as well.  Way to persevere and complete this activity!!  You all showed great stamina!

Enjoying snacks in the afternoon on Friday!  An early lunch means snacks in the afternoon!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!
We want to wish all the moms out there a wonderful Mother's Day!
I hope you have a chance to relax and enjoy your day with loved ones!

Have a terrific weekend!!

Kindergarten Happenings!

Here are some pictures from last week!  Penny Wars has begun and the competition is on!  The kids love bringing in some change to help the cause.  They enjoy adding pennies & dollars to our jar and adding silver to the other grades!  Thank you for helping to support a new playground!  If all goes well the children will be lucky to enjoy a new playground in the future.
Push pin art - a finger strengthening activity that the children love!
Painting spring flowers for our windows!  They came out beautiful!

Some chose to color the flowers instead! Again they look gorgeous!
Finishing up our professionally published book!
Work board activities~ Wow Ella you worked really hard!
Sorting long and short vowel sounds & sorting ending parts of words.

Group photo ~ boy is it hard to get 27 children to look and smile at the same time!
We did the best we could!
Duck! Rabbit!
We read a story and the children had to decide if the image was a duck or rabbit.  They also had to write their opinion and tell why they thought it looked like a duck or rabbit.
 They did a great job!

 STAR STUDENT!!!
Josie was our star student this week and she did a fabulous job sharing with us.  We loved her new baby Pooh and medal she got from Disney for running a race!  Way to go Josie!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
