Happy Halloween!!
We had a very busy, exciting and fun week! The children had a great time dressing up and parading around the school! Their costumes were GREAT!! Some of them decided to wear them all day, while others decided to take them off. Either way they looked terrific, had fun and enjoyed their special day! Here are some pictures of the students. I got a few of the parade in action during Cohort A & individuals for Cohort B.
Mr. Campbell joined in the fun too!
The students wrote about their favorite thing about the month of October. They did a great job illustrating and writing. I helped some students as they wrote while I sounded out the words. Other students wrote sight words and I wrote the more complicated words. All did a fantastic job!
Work Board ~ The students practiced rhyming during work board this week. The two activities they got to choose from was Mailboxes & Mail or Mayflower Ships & Rocks.
Each card had picture on it and they had to match the correct rhyming pictures. They did a great job!
We practiced writing sight words as a ticket to snack. We also learned about syllables this week and practiced breaking words into parts using our names & Halloween words.
STEM Challenge ~ Five Little Pumpkins
The children entered the 5 little pumpkin poem in their journal as part of last weeks remote learning. We sang the song, watched a video of the song and then were challenged to make a gate and have 5 pumpkins sit or balance on the gate. They were provided with 2 tongue depressors, 5 clothes pins and 5 pumpkins. The best thing was that even when it was challenging they stuck with it! The other neat part was they came up with different ways to do it. Some even challenged themselves to try a second way!
We practiced number writing on the ipads and wrote the number 10 in the HWT workbooks.
Strengthen our finger muscles using small crayons that help us pinch and making little circles.
We completed a Halloween write the room where we practiced counting, writing numbers and showing numbers on a ten frame.
GRASS!! Hopefully we will see it soon again!
Halloween Celebration
We had fun at our celebration working on some math skills of counting, identifying and writing numbers. We sanitized our hands before we started each activity and washed them at the end. We wanted to be sure we were staying healthy! Students got to choose where they wanted to go. Here is the witches ring toss!
Pumpkin ball toss
Spider ring tower - roll and put that number of spider rings on the straw. How many spiders did it take to get to the top?
Spooky eyeballs
Race to fill the pumpkin or caldron
Spin and fill the caldron with Halloween erasers.
Halloween word search
Look at our patch of "Spookley" pumpkins!
I know that was a lot of pictures but I hope you enjoyed them! We had a great week and hope you all enjoy a wonderful Halloween! I am sure it will be a little different from years past. Have a safe, happy & Spooktacular Halloween!!
