We had a great week celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday! We started our week creating a book inspired by Dr. Seuss and then finished the day making oobleck! The kids loved it! We also played a green eggs and ham sight word game, read Green Eggs & Ham, and illustrated our favorite book written by Dr. Seuss. It was a busy week but we earned a lot of marbles and worked hard. We also enjoyed Community Reading Day with EMS & Firefighters Michelle and Jeremy! Thank you for taking the time and reading to us! Here are some pictures from our amazing week!
After learning about Dr. Seuss & talking about his books the students picked their favorite boo and illustrated the cover. They did a terrific job!
We also make our own hats like Cat in the Hat! Here is Calvin excited to show his off!
OOBLECK!!
During startime we listened to the story Bartholomew and the Oobleck
Afterwards, we made our own oobleck and made some discoveries about it. We had a lot of fun!
There were a lot of smiles during this exploration!
Science table challenges
Can you move the ball without touching it?
William figured out how. He used his mouth to blow on it!
Great problem solving!
Here we are at the end of the day! A little tired but celebrating an amazing author and illustrator is a lot of work!
Community Reading Day!
Here we are with our community readers. Thank you for spending the time with us answering our questions and reading a story! We had a great time and appreciate it!
We are talking about fact families or related facts. Some children were challenged to find the missing part and write equations. They did an awesome job!
March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb! We weren't quite sure our weather pattern was following this saying but then we had a few blustery, chilly days. Thank goodness they were short lived. Hopefully this warm weather pattern will continue and is here to stay!
Always excited to share their creations!
Working on larger numbers
We talked about making a group of ten and adding more. This helps us to understand the teen numbers because the 1 stands for a group of tens.
For example, 10 and 5 more = 15 or 15=10+5 more.
Presidential bump game
The spinner is made up of ten frames to create a number 11-20. The students each have cubes and will put a cube on the number they spin. If the other student gets the same number they can bump the first player, however if one player had 2 cubes on a spot you can't bump. They loved this game!!
Practicing counting and writing teen numbers.
This helps build one to one correspondence and number identification.
We are creating another class book based on Dr. Seuss' book
Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now!
The student had to think of a way to travel, real or nonsense and
illustrate a picture of themselves in the picture. They had a lot of fun
working on these. We have currently made 8 class books! How exciting!!
Hula hoop fun!
Green Eggs & Ham sight word game!
This was a fun one!!
Showing off more creations!!
Matching numbers 1-20 with base ten block cards.
As you can see we had a wonderful week full of hard work, smiles, fun, learning and more!
I am so proud of all of them!!
We hope you had a fabulous weekend!
