Kindergarten Happenings!

Another great week in kindergarten!  We talked about places we like to go and learned a little about some of the holidays we each celebrate.  We will continue to learn a little bit about the holidays around the world and make connections as we learn.  We are working on lowering our volume as we have been very boisterous this past week.  I think the month of December can be tricky because there are so many different celebrations and traditions going on.  We are working on using inside voices.  Here are some pictures of some activities that occurred last week!

 Math puzzles
 Finding the missing number
Putting sentences in order so they make sense.

Dreidel game - the kids loved playing and even played throughout the week on their own.  We broke up into three smaller groups early in the week so a teacher could be at each group.  We worked on greater/less, using a ten frame and spinning the dreidel with our finger muscles.

HWT ~ We have almost completed the capital letters.  We have one more letter to go and then we will review all of the capitals until winter break.  When we return we will begin working on lower case letter formation.

Missing number - finding the missing number and using clips to put the correct number in its place
organizing sentences - the was tricky but we stuck with it and used some clues we know about sentences. Capital at the beginning & punctuation at the end.
Syllables - filling the Menorah with pictures with 1, 2 or 3 syllables
Building with big legos ~ Great tower girls!
 Mystery Reader
Thank you Mrs. Williamson for coming in and surprising us with the wonderful book Nibbles.  It was a lot of fun having you and listening to the story.  Thank you for taking time out of your day to read to us.  We LOVE having Mystery Readers!

Speaking of Mystery Readers, we have one more that will be coming in the last week of December.  Please consider being a mystery reader because the children really love having you.  I will be looking for more mystery readers after the winter break!
We are learning about classifying in math and the children brought it into their choice time!  All on their own too!  They sorted the legos by color to make a tower and at clean up time they put them away in color groups.  So great to see them apply their learning to their real world situations!

Sorting creepy crawlies by color, kind of bug, size, etc.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
