A Spooklacular Week!
We had a few math activities themed around Halloween. This one is looking at the number on the monster and putting the correct number of eyes on it.
Arianna is working on matching the letter and beginning sound of a picture.
Spooky ten frames! The children used fake eyeballs and showed the correct quantity on the ten frame (tray with skulls/pumpkins).
Room on the Broom ~ We read the story and did a writing and craft activity to go along with the story. I put the writing piece in your child's bender you will get at the end of the year. They had to choose someone/thing to bring on their broom and let us know where they would go!
Candy Corn stacking challenge! The children loved this challenge. They worked in pairs to stack the candy corn. If you stack it high enough it begins to look like corn on the cob.
Roll and color - the children worked in pairs to play a game using dice. They had to roll the dice and figure out the amount. They then colored in the number on their sheet. We worked on identifying the bigger number and then counting on. We are trying to get the children to see the dots patterns quickly so they know them and don't have to count from one each time.
Fall Festival Celebration with Mrs. Bennett's Class
We enjoyed a fun filled afternoon on Tuesday with Mrs. Bennett's class. First we read a story and used some instruments to help tell the story. Then we broke up into the two different classrooms to do a craft and pumpkin exploration. We discovered if pumpkins sink/float, took the seeds out of the pumpkin pulp, made monsters and spider hats.
Some of us loved the ooey, gooey, slimy insides but most of us did not like touching it.
Ava, Dylan & Sophia loved playing with the pulp of the pumpkin.
Folding our eight spider legs was a little tricky but a great fine motor activity.
Enjoying our special snacks with our friends!
Write the room - practicing counting and recording numbers.
Nearby Numbers- This can be a little tricky sometimes. Catie is picking a number out of the bag and trying to figure out where she can place the number to make sense.
STAR STUDENT
Dominic was our Star Student this week. He did a great job sharing a special book and game with the class. The students enjoyed playing it with him during choice. He also shared his family page and all about me pages. Way to go Dominic!!
Have a wonderful weekend!
