Kindergarten Happenings

Wow, it is hard to believe that November has come and gone already.  We have been very busy and will continue to work hard in the next three weeks.  I am very proud of this class!  Our marble jar is almost full from all their hard work.  The next month we will learn about community helpers and work on our own addresses.  We will also meet with our buddies in the next month, learn about different holidays and continue to work on letters/sound concepts.

Thank you Mrs. Hohengasser for being our Mystery Reader this month!!  We loved having you and the story you read!  The message of being yourself and never quitting was wonderful.
How cute are they?  They all wanted to be part of the picture!
Classifying objects - colors, how they move, kinds of creatures .... the list goes on!

Working on strengthening our fine motor skills.  The children completed a fish mosaic using broken crayons, pincher grasp and small circles to fill in each circle.  It was hard work and a great way to work on fine motor skills.

STAR STUDENT~  Yeah, Kacie!  You did an outstanding job sharing your information and family pictures.  We loved the story you brought in and that adorable little bunny too!  I can't wait to hear if you finalize a name for her.  "Pinkie" is what you were thinking.  Nice work!
Ipads ~ practicing writing our sight words on the show me ap.
Ella was an architect while she was working with magna tiles today!  Nice structures Ella!
Coupons ~ You may have heard about children earning coupons.  I have started handing out coupons to individuals to acknowledge exceptional work, kindness, effort, etc.  This is directed more at the individual where as the Marble Jar is earned as a group.
Hunter and Aviva recently used their "Show & Tell" coupons to share a special animal with us.  Catie used a "Furry Friend" coupon & Kacie used a "special pen" coupon this week as well.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Kindergarten Happenings!

Two weeks to share with you!  First I would like to thank you for taking time out of your day last Thursday to meet with me for conferences.  It was nice seeing everyone and sharing your child's progress with you.  Again, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Kacie is working on putting the pumpkins in alphabetical order.  First she worked on her cutting accuracy then she sequenced the pumpkins correctly.  Way to stick with it Kacie!
Listening center during Daily Five.  Cate and Arinna are enjoying a story.
Norah is using magnetic letters to build words based on the pictures provided.
She did a wonderful job!
Catie is working on HWT app to practice the corner starter letter L.
Wow!  Look at you go Josie!
Nice careful cutting Dominic!
Aviva is building her fine motor skills by using a tennis ball and pennies.  She had to squeeze the ball to dump out pennies, she then had to pick up the pennies by pinching the penny and squirreling it down into her palm.  Once all pennies were picked up, she had to push the pennies to the tips of her finger and thumb and then place it into the tennis ball.  This is a great activity for strengthening fine motor muscles and control.
Great job building CVC words Dominic!
Hunter is working to match pictures using beginning sounds and letters.
Using the smart board to practice classifying.
Write the room.  This was a challenging activity for many.  Each card had three different items on it and they had to count and record each item.  We had to go back and check our counting at times so we will continue practicing activities that have a visual tracking piece to them.

Mr. Flournoy is working with a small group on classifying attribute blocks.
Aviva is the Birthday Girl!!  Happy Birthday Aviva!  We hope you had a wonderful day!
We enjoyed singing happy birthday and were able to do a few movement activities on
 GoNoodle for her special day!
Special afternoon with Mrs. Bennett's Class.  We got together and learned about the Wampanoag
Native Americans.  We then broke up into smaller groups to do some special activities!
Will & Dylan are getting ready to make a clay pot out of model magic.  The children had the choice to make a coil pot or a pinch pot.  We talked about the different ways that Wampanoag made bowls; using wood and clay.
Hunter is showing off his person for his "Mishoon".  Did you know the Wampanoag word for boat is "mishoon"?  We learned a lot about the way life was 400 years ago!

Enjoying some coloring!
Sophia making her coil pot.
Putting on the finishing touches on a special turkey surprise we will put into their "All About Me" binders.
Practicing counting & recording.  Ella challenged herself with some teen numbers.

We had a great two weeks.  The children are working hard and learning a lot.
I am so proud of them and all their hard work!
