Character choices for pumpkins.
Tomorrow we will be decorating pumpkins with third graders. These are the characters the children picked. If you have a book with the character or want to print out a picture so they could look at it when we are decorating pumpkins that would be great.

Field Trip to the Fire Station
Well we had a fabulous time at the fire station. The children enjoyed walking and looking at all the signs of fall around them. Some of us sang songs as we walked, while others enjoyed some conversation with one another. At the fire station, Firefighter Brian let us look at the different trucks, told us about tools that are used and he let us go in the fire truck. We also learned some interesting facts about how much water each truck can hold and how long the different hoses are. In addition, we had the opportunity to watch Firefighter Pete suit up. The children watched as he put on all the gear and learned how important it is to not be afraid of the firemen. We talked about how they look and sound different when they have all their equipment on but they are firefighters and there to help them. The children were great listeners and asked some very important questions! Here are some pictures from our fantastic day!
And we are OFF!!

Read to Someone
Today we learned a Daily Five choice called Read to Someone! The children did a terrific job! We learned about sitting "EEKK" (elbow to elbow, knee to knee) and how to pick a partner. We also talked about using nice words and facial expressions when asking and answering friends.
