We were very busy this week. We wrote and illustrated two books about Spring. We are up to 10 class books! This is so exciting because if we make 13 each child will take one home at the end of the year. It will make a nice keepsake.
This snowman math activity was a challenge. Each number was shown in different ways such as using fingers, ten frames, dominoes, dice, and words. Way to go Kacie!
I hope you enjoyed your colorful eggs! The children were very excited about painting the large eggs. They really came out beautiful with bright colors!
An "egg-stra" special activity. The children loved using the crayons to decorate the egg and were amazed as they painted watercolors on top. The crayons act like a raincoat and resist the paint. These also looked terrific!
This is an "egg-stra" special class because they work so hard! The children did a wonderful job writing a message inside their eggs! Their writing is looking so good!
The students works very carefully to cut out the eggs.
"Egg-stra" special activities. We learned two big words this week: oviparous & oology.
The children learned oology is the study of eggs and that oviparous is an animal that lays eggs. We named some animals that are oviparous, a poem about eggs and read a book about eggs. Afterwards we had a STEM challenge using plastic eggs and playdo. The students were challenged to build a tower using the eggs and see how high they could get it. It was very challenging but many of the groups persevered and were able to accomplish something.
Proud of their big tower!
We then moved outside for some egg relay races. The children were challenged to move from on spot around an egg across the way holding an egg on a spoon. They had a great time cheering each other on!
On Wednesday we opted to skip choice time for some extra recess time!
The weather was perfect!
Thursday during enrichment we worked in partners to create marble runs. Some of the groups were more successful than others but they all worked well together and came up with different ideas. We will continue to work on them next week with a new challenge.

Another STEM challenge - build a jellybean structure with toothpicks and jellybeans. These girls worked really hard to come up with some structures!
As you can see we had a busy week. I am very proud of the children and all their hard work. Next week we will continue to challenge ourselves and work hard. We will be learning about our Country and working on composing and decomposing numbers 11-19.
We are running out of cleaning spray and wipes. I try to wash the tables a few times a day depending on the activities we complete. Any donations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
Have a wonderful long weekend!
